A jack of  all  many trades

I'm comfortable working in the messy middle where software, operations, design, and real-world constraints intersect.

A wide range of professional & creative experiences gathered over twenty years with and within organizations big and small allows for interesting perspectives on an operation across the technology, processes, and people that drive it.

With an understanding of your challenges AND your operation, I can help you circumvent quicksand and reshape systems & processes to be fit for purpose and built to last.

So while I don’t know it all (and not by a longshot) you’ll find me eager to think it through with you, big or small.

For everyone's benefit, I am selective with the projects I take on. I only pursue the opportunities where I am confident I can deliver significant, durable value. I will be candid when a different expert is what you need and do my best to point you towards them.

Reach out when you're ready.

A short list of a few interesting projects.

  • Orderpad App

A one of a kind order entry & sales presentation app for a sales team in a niche industry. Fast access to a catalog of over 10,000 SKUs while tying into a world of other business-specific sales rules and system infrastructure.

    More about the Orderpad App

The Orderpad app was custom-built and tailor-fit for a 52-year-old craft yarn distribution company ready to modernize its sales process and equip its traveling sales force with an effective digital tool.

Designed for use in live, in-person sales meetings, the application enables reps to move fluidly through a vast product catalog (over 10,000 active SKUs) and customer list, adding items to an order without disrupting the conversation or interpersonal rhythm of the sale. Speed and intuitiveness were essential—order entry had to feel organic, not procedural.

Beyond efficiency, the Orderpad also needed to serve as a visual sales aid. The interface was carefully designed to present products clearly and attractively when a rep is seated beside a customer, turning the device into a shared reference rather than a distraction.

Under the hood, the system integrates deeply with NetSuite ERP and a third-party payment processor, while enforcing a complex and evolving set of business rules, sales logic, and long-standing operational practices unique to the company.

Although NetSuite offers off-the-shelf tools that address portions of this workflow, none came close to meeting the company’s real-world needs. The Orderpad delivered a level of fit, usability, and polish that generic solutions simply could not.

In continuous use since 2018, the Orderpad has become the backbone of the company’s sales operation, saving many tens of thousands of dollars annually by avoiding licensing fees, bundled software, and long-term maintenance contracts, while materially improving the effectiveness of the sales team.

  • Stonefisher Electronics

"Inspired electronic devices for music makers" - A new boutique brand of hand-made analog effect pedals.

Hype-free, high quality electronics for music makers

What began in mid-2023 as a personal inflection point quickly evolved into a deep fascination with the analog circuitry inside low-voltage audio devices like effect pedals, amplifiers, and vintage synthesizers. That curiosity soon turned into hands-on experimentation, and before long I was immersed in schematics, vintage components, and the pursuit of building really special, high-quality devices for music makers.

Stonefisher Electronics is the brand I created to channel this work. It is a fully self-directed, in-house endeavor: I handle every aspect of the operation, from circuit design and PCB layout through assembly, packaging, product photography, marketing, and order fulfillment. In every practical sense, Stonefisher is a one-man shop — equal parts technical laboratory and creative outlet.

While still growing toward its audience within the broader community of musicians and gearheads, the project has already proven deeply rewarding. It has become both a joy in the making and a disciplined way to expand my capabilities across analog electronics, manufacturing, and small-scale operations. It is know-how that continues to inform and strengthen my broader technical practice.

  • Ship Services App

A bespoke pick, pack, rate, and ship tool for a wholesale distributor built from the ground up around existing infrastructure. Has been handling more than 20,000 shipments per year for over eight years.

    A tailor-fit fulfillment platform...

A single distribution center responsible for fulfilling domestic and international orders for three subsidiaries, drawing from an active catalog of more than 10,000 SKUs. The operational demands were extensive: multi-carrier integrations, real-time rate shopping, label generation with custom ZPL packing lists, cross-subsidiary fulfillment logic, integration with AES/ACE Portal (for cbp.dhs.gov export compliance), and adherence to a complex set of internal business rules.

When off-the-shelf shipping platforms inevitably proved unsuitable — either due to technical limitations or prohibitive licensing and maintenance costs — the task became to design and and build a fully bespoke shipping solution from the ground up.

The resulting Ship Services application replaced multiple third-party tools and eliminated ongoing software fees, while introducing granular, shipment-level rate shopping. This allowed warehouse staff to consistently select the most cost-effective carrier for each shipment. Over time, this competitive pressure drove carriers to offer increasingly aggressive discounts as they competed for volume — producing savings that compounded well beyond the initial software cost avoidance.

Running continuously for the past eight years, the platform has processed roughly 640,000 order fulfillments, resulting in approximately 160,000 shipments and nearly $128,000,000 in goods shipped — reliably, compliantly, and at scale.

  • ShopLocal

A consumer-facing online storefront for a B2B distributor. It enabled B2C online sales and direct warehouse fulfillment for mom and pop shops (without their lifting a finger!) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    More about the ShopLocal platform

Though the COVID-19 pandemic may now feel distant, its impact on small, community-based businesses was profound. This project was conceived and launched in the early months of 2020 for a craft supply distribution company, with a singular goal: help independent retail customers survive during a period when the world abruptly shut down and moved online.

The craft yarn industry is uniquely sustained by small, local “mom and pop” shops. Often lightly tech-enabled — or not online at all — these stores serve as essential community hubs, providing not just supplies but knowledge and connection for crafters. Unfortunately, it was precisely these businesses, many without ecommerce platforms, that were hit hardest when in-person shopping became impossible.

The ShopLocal app was designed to bridge that gap. It enabled consumers to financially support their local yarn shops by placing orders that were fulfilled directly from the distributor’s warehouse, which was permitted to remain operational. Crucially, the system required zero technical participation from the retailers themselves. Shop owners didn’t need to integrate software, manage online storefronts, or even open their doors. At the same time, consumers experienced a seamless, modern purchasing flow.

Behind the scenes, the platform integrated with multiple web services and backend systems to synchronize inventory, ordering, and fulfillment with the distributor’s existing warehouse operations—ensuring reliability at a moment when logistics mattered more than ever.

The result was a highly effective solution: the program generated many thousands of dollars in sales during the height of the pandemic and proved durable beyond it. Today, the ShopLocal platform remains in active use, continuing to connect consumers with their local shops through a truly "hands-off" sales channel for retailers.

  • Transistor Lookup Tool

An easy to use transistor lookup tool, with advanced filtering criteria, substitution suggestions, datasheet references, and hobby projects.

Creating a sorely needed hobbyist tool

About a year in with my freefall into hobby electronics, I finally hit a wall: there just wasn’t a good transistor reference site. I wanted something simple and fast—a place to look up transistor specs by part number, and a way to search for viable substitutes based on a flexible set of characteristics. Somehow, that tool didn’t exist.

    So I built it.

After a few weeks of scouring the web, automating data collection, and cleaning up a lot of messy raw sources, I ended up with a useful, normalized transistor database. On top of that, I built a lightweight lookup and substitution tool designed for quick, practical reference. Datasheet spelunking be damned.

Hosted in the reference section of the Huntington Audio Labs website (another pet project of mine), the tool is now used by hobbyists, students, and educators who just want specs without friction.

The goal was straightforward: keep it ad-free, thoughtfully designed, and easy to use. I think it hits that mark and the feedback from users suggests they agree.
